Medland Pull off UK Road Shows

“People Thought We Were Mad!”

Where there is a will there is a way, and with the ever-changing situation that Covid-19 is presenting us with, some AIPP agents have been getting creative in a bid to track down leads and get property in front of the British public

Medland is one of them, and during the months of July and August hosted 183 unique visitors across 15 venues in the UK, resulting in 128 real prospects.

We heard from an exhausted but happy Roy Howitt at the end of his road trip which saw him host 15 separate small exhibitions to a highly engaged audience, he explained that he drove over with all of the exhibition materials, spending 5 weeks in the UK, sleeping in 19 different beds and driving over 5000km.

.

Face to face

Roy explained that the objectives was clear, to give people who were interested new build properties in Spain, offering them the opportunity to meet qualified service providers for legal, mortgage and currency products, at one event and these partners included, Sun Lawyers, The MHI Group & Foreign Currency Direct

“It wasn’t easy given things were changing real-time as we were in the UK and even had to change some hotels as they wouldn’t let us hold the event but in the end we got through it hosting 15 venues, all carefully making sure that we were Covid secure, all with timed prequalified visitors.

80% of people were new to Medland and the biggest message was that they didn’t want the digital tours and found it most useful meeting face to face. 64 people had cancelled their arrangements to come and view properties but they still want to come over and the average budget was €223k.

On average attendees spent over 2 hours at the event and met with all of the partners. We originally booked 8 appointments but these were cancelled due to the reintroduction of quarantine while the event was happening.

Event cost 20% of what we typically pay to exhibit

We ended with 128 real prospects, our lawyer partners are dealing with over 100 people, there were 83 mortgage queries and 77 currency accounts opened at the events. 15 people have received an agreement in principle for a mortgage ready to visit.

I guess the final outtake from this was that the event cost 20% of what we typically pay to exhibit at a show and generated 4 times the number of qualified leads.

Our partners were blown away by the feedback, and the visitors reported back that they felt Covid safe in the large rooms with screens and safety measure.

People thought we were mad – but now are asking how we did it! We’re planning now on branding it and repeating it again as its unlikely we’ll see any big shows happening in 2021.”

Roy will be joining us on the next Zoom Webinar (October date tbc) to share more indepth feedback about this roadshow experience and answer questions.
